William J. McGee

Consumer Reports travel journalist William J. McGee writes this expose of United States airlines' decline of recent decades. He covers the off-shoring of jobs including plane maintenance, the worsening of customer service, the code sharing with lower standard regional carriers and their constant fight against any effort to improve safety or the flying experience.
I found this quite eye opening. I had not realized how far the airlines had fallen, especially in regards to safety. I find off-shoring maintenance where there is little to no oversight quite scary. In the end, I sadly think that it's going to take some crashes before things will be improved. McGee has written an important book but I'm afraid I must give only a "B" sue to its scatter-shot writing style.
